Versatility as an Ally
A year ago, I said “yes!” and joined the amazing team of coaches at Teamcubation as a squad leader. From day one, I knew I was embarking on an incredibly exciting adventure, but now I can confidently say it has exceeded all my expectations.

And that’s why I’m here, excited to share my first article (of many, I hope 😉) with you.
Our Role as Coaches
At Teamcubation, our role as coaches is to support IT squads during their onboarding into client teams. We learn from them while constantly challenging ourselves. Each project, each client, and each team member is unique, pushing us to reinvent ourselves and adapt to different needs and cultures.
Over these months, I led two entirely different projects for two different clients. The contrast was striking—everything from the products to the corporate culture, with one project in Argentina and the other in Colombia. That’s when I realized that versatility goes beyond adapting to different contexts and cultures. It means reinventing yourself, developing tailored strategies, and, most importantly, understanding what is key to inspiring and effectively leading teams.
Beyond Code: Developing Personal Skills
Supporting new talents on their journey to becoming developers goes beyond enhancing their technical skills. For example, helping them develop public speaking skills is crucial, and this is where versatility becomes even more important, as each person has their own story, fears, and challenges.
In my experience, I have coached developers for whom public speaking initially seemed like an insurmountable challenge. Through this process, I learned that the key is to fully understand the situation and truly put yourself in the other person’s shoes. As a team, we developed different techniques—from playing music and relaxing audio before presentations to conducting mock presentations to reduce anxiety and encouraging them to start with smaller talks. But of course, every team is different, and these are just some of the challenges that come with being a leader.
Important: Versatility Doesn’t Work Without Patience. Understanding the challenge a person is facing is key to developing a strategy that maximizes their growth.
My experience at Teamcubation has made it clear that versatility is THE powerful tool that transforms how we train and lead teams. By adapting, learning, and guiding in different contexts, we open the door to new opportunities for growth and development—both for those who are learning and for us as mentors.
If you’re reading this and hold a leadership role, whether at work or in another area, I encourage you to explore and cultivate your versatility. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and take on new challenges. The journey may be demanding, but it will be worth it. 🚀💡
